Dr. Sagin is a popular lecturer, consultant, mediator, and advisor to health care organizations. He is frequently asked to assist hospitals and physicians develop strong working relationships in the face of increasing competition and diverging interests. Over the past decade he has worked with several hundred of the nation’s medical staffs on issues ranging from organizational redesign and bylaws revisions, to medical staff strategic planning, peer review effectiveness, credentialing challenges and leadership development. In recent years his work has focused on hospital-physician alignment strategies and he has assisted numerous health systems develop owned or affiliated multidisciplinary group practices. His book, Creating the Hospital Group Practice: The Advantages of Employing or Affiliating with Physicians, was published by Health Administration Press in September of 2009.
Dr. Sagin is also an expert in health care governance and serves as an advisor and a regular faculty member for The Governance Institute, He is also a regular faculty member for organizations ranging from the American College of Healthcare Executives to the American Association for Physician Leadership. He is a clinically active board certified in family medicine and geriatrics and has taught and practiced in community hospital and university settings. In 2012 he served on the Board of Examiners for the Baldrige National Quality Award.
Dr. Sagin is currently the medical director of the Pennsylvania Medical Society Foundation’s LifeGuard Program, a national competency assessment program which works to create remedial interventions for physicians who have developed clinical deficiencies which threaten their licensure or hospital privileges.
